India International Science Festival IISF -2018 Report
As approved by the State Government, Department of Science & Technology participated in the 4thEdition of the India International Science Festival 2018 at Lucknow from 4th to 8th October, 2018 through its various organisations, such as Goa state Council for Science & Technology, Goa State Innovation Council , Goa State Waste Management Corporation and GEDA The team of 4 officials from GSCST accompanied 10students from Engineering Colleges and school, 5 innovators from private institutions, 2 DST officials and one official of State Innovation Council, a total of twenty-two members contingent participated in the IISF 2018 at Lucknow. Shri Parvin Parab, Shri Francis Lucas and Shri Sudeep Faldessai and Shri Nanda Naik reached Lucknow on 3rd October, 2018 to initiate the work of stall designing and for making other logistic arrangement
The Mega Expo was inaugurated on 5th October at 10.00am at the Indira Gandhi Pratisthan and at Railway grounds simultaneously by Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Hon’ble Minister for Science & Technology, Govt. of India. On 6th October the President of India formally inaugurated the event and addressed the participants at Indira Gandhi Pratisthan.

The Stall allotted to GSCSTexhibited videos and brochures on various S& T related activities and Tourism. The GSCST corner showcased the Geographical Indicators (GI) item and the list of probable GI items. It also showcased its activities in the form of posters. Most of the visitors wanted to buy the Goan GI products and were disappointed due to non-sale of these products. However, sample of the products were made available to the visitors for tasting. The GI products displayed were Cashew feni, Coconut feni, Coconut
vinegar, Goanalsando, (Cowpea)Goan coconut jaggery, Goan, Khajem, Goanbebinca, Goandodol, GoanXacuti masala, Goan mandolin bananas, Harmal chillies and Khola Chillies. Smt. Brenda Fernandes, Project Scientist, (W.R.) shouldered the responsibility of accompanying the participating students and display of the GI produce.Shri Shri. Pravin Parab, Jr. Cartographer and Shri. Francis Lucas, Jr. Cartographer and SudipFaldessai, PO, GSInC, supported the designing of Stall and display of various models, banners, posters etc.

Kallows Ltd, a private entrepreneur showcased and displayed the Medical equipment to check the ECG and BP. It was a big hit among elderly people who were given live demo of the programme and its working. Kallow’s was represented by Shri. S.G. Sreepathiand Shri. Darren Rodrigues.
Buoyancy Pvt. Ltd showcased their Virtual reality programme on Ship building. There were long queues of the students and visitors to watch the virtual display outside our stall. The buoyancy group was represented by Shri. ShubhamTulaskar and Shri. YogeshLamani.
